As a reporter at the conference, she can ask any question and help shed light on important issues. So what does she asK? “What do you think of the arrest of Professor Louis Gates of Harvard,” — a situation that affects no one but the particular people involved. That’s what I love about the media — they’re so responsible.

That was a predetermined question. She was just following the script. It was off topic to enable the conference to end on a positive unifying note. I know I felt distracted into the guilt world of being white.
